7 Questions with a Census Scientist

For 4 years, the U.S. CoML Quarterly Newsletter kept the community informed of the latest and greatest CoML news, highlights, and personalities throughout the 10 year Census of Marine Life Program. Below is an archive interviews we conducted where each issue we asked a different member of the CoML Community seven (or so) questions. Each provided personal moments and new insights, serving as a snapshot in time to this complex program through its final phases. Enjoy!

Ian Poiner December 2009 – Ian Poiner, Chair of the CoML Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) and Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Marine Science
Reg Beach September 2009 – Dr. Reg Beach from NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. Dr. Beach is also a member of the Interagency Working Group on Ocean Partnerships (IWG-OP) and initiated an IWG-OP ad hoc Interagency Marine Biodiversity group in July 2008.
NOSB - Marshfield HS June 2009 – Special High School Edition – We had a special ‘High School Edition’ of 7 Questions and asked the 2009 NOSB champions Seth Berger, Alex Jensen, Michael Josephson, Priya Pathak, Elisa Prebble, and their Coach, Paul Herder, from Marshfield High School seven questions about their experiences at the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) finals.
Nancy Knowlton May 2009 – Dr. Nancy Knowlton, Sant Chair in Marine Science at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and leader of CoML’s Census of Coral Reef Ecosystems (CReefs) project.
Peter Hill December 2008 – Peter Hill, then Staff Member for the Joint Ocean Commission Initiative
Robert Gagosian August 2008 – Dr. Robert Gagosian, President and CEO of Ocean Leadership and the Principal Investigator for the CoML Secretariat and U.S. Program Office.
